Storage Units

Keeping Your Goods Safe In Storage Units

While most storage units out there today are secure, reliable and well-monitored, there is still plenty that can go wrong. Keep these tips in mind when you decide to hire storage units.

Keep An Inventory

Before you hire storage units, you should always complete an inventory of everything you'll be storing. And always accompany your inventory with photos or video footage. If you need to make an insurance claim, it'll make your life a lot easier.

Don't Assume Your Stuff Is Safe

Forget the flashy brochures and advertisements. The fact is, storage units can never be 100% safe. You should always check on your goods every now and then. Although most units are climate controlled, there is always a risk of your belongings going mouldy or something else going wrong.

Get Insurance

Some people believe that if storage units burn down while their stuff is stored, they'll be covered by the businesses insurance. This is simply not true. In almost every case you are responsible for your goods regardless of where or with whom they're stored.
